While in the general area on business, we decided to try out the small lunch buffet here. This is one of the few places to eat in the area, and while it is not all that much to look at, it serves up some solid, if not spectacular food. It is located in a tired looking strip center, but the restaurant is clean, if a little dimly lit.
The small buffet generally has 3 or 4 meat choices, with some changes each day, and 4 to 6 vegetables, also with a change or two, day to day. We tried the Beef Stew dish (cooked in a rich, brown gravy with green pepper and onion), Chicken Tenders, Chopped BBQ, Pot Pie, Mashed Potatoes, Black-Eyed Peas, Corn, and Turnip Greens.
Everything was pretty good, but there was nothing that blew you away, either. The BBQ was solid, if a little on the sweet side from the sauce. The Beef Stew was a little different because of the thick brown gravy, cooked more like you would Country Style Steak. Chicken Tenders were nice, Pot Pie a little on the dry side, and thick. Veggies were canned, though the mashed potatoes seemed freshly made, and they were a little thick.
Service was great, friendly folks here. This is not a destination spot for this type of country cooking, but if in the neighborhood again around lunch time, we'd stop in. -

It's nasty as f**k here yo. We sat at a table and ordered I looked over there was a hole in the wall with rat poop inside it. I ordered chicken and green beans the chicken was pink inside and tasted like straight grill. The green beans had so much grease that it coated the roof of your mouth.

The food here is terribly gross. The brisket tastes as if it's from a can. The waitresses are hot

Hadn't been there in months because of the last visit being so under impressing. Should have just went on to Greensboro. Seven people, seven orders, three orders wrong. Long wait for the food. Drinks not refilled. Drinks were watered down too. And the place wasn't busy. Surprised when they came and took or condiments off the table to refill for evening service. But biggest surprise was someone decided that this was the time of day to vacuum the light fixtures. This is an ongoing problem. Last time we were there couple wrong orders and lack of service. Time before I was served a hamburger that was burned to charcoal on bottom. They tried to hide it; I bit into the patty hiding in the bun, not knowing it was burned. Waitress was appalled and apologetic. I have no plans to go back and waste my money anymore. Three strikes!! Y'all are out!

My husband and I went to Backyard Grill for the first time on a Saturday night, which is their sirloin steak buffet night. We decided to go for the buffet since it was relatively cheap at $11.50 per person. The food was average, but what was really a negative for me was some of the items advertised to be on the buffet were nowhere to be found. BBQ ribs were listed as one of the items to be on the buffet on the whiteboard as soon as you walk in the restaurant, but they were not on the buffet at all. It took a while for something to be replaced once it was gone and kept being told it was cooking. Waitress was nice, but took a little while to get drink refills. Might give this place another try, but probably won't be getting the buffet again.
